Self Storage Cost and Pricing

How much to rent a storage unit?
The cost will depend on the size of the storage space. We have spaces from locker size up to 500 sq ft. and for our business clients up to 1,000 sqft. Self Storage cost and pricing are based on the floor dimensions of the storage space.
What is included in the price?

Our price includes your storage charge, rates, service charges, VAT, utility bills and maintenance costs.
You will need a padlock to secure your storage unit and your goods will need to be insured when in storage.

Do I pay weekly or monthly?

We invoice on a four weekly basis, payable in advance. We ask for fourteen days notice when you vacate your storage unit .

How long can I rent a Storage unit?
You can store your goods for as long as you require.
What is the minimum rental period?
The minimum rental period is one week.
What payment methods do you accept?
Customers pay by Direct Debit through our Go Cardless payment system or directly through their bank

We accept most domestic- and international credit cards normally for the 1st months rent, after this the payments switch to direct debit

Unfortunately, we don’t accept cash.

New Customer 50% Offer
The customer must be a new customer or taking additional space.

The promotion is for the duration of the first invoice only, 4 weeks dependent upon room availability. This cannot be altered after the date of the move in e.g. a customer cannot subsequently ask for 50% off the next invoice if they have only chosen to take the 4 week option at move in.

The customer must pay in advance for the duration of the offer selected.

The opening offer of 50% off storage for an introductory period is available on selected room sizes only.
The minimum stay for the offer is 7 days.

This offer is only allowed once per room / once per customer unless additional space taken. NB: customers cannot transfer the Licence into another customer’s name in order to attempt to reapply the opening offer.
The Self Storage Centre reserve the right to withdraw the discount at any time.

How do I know what size of storage space I need?
Make a list of the items you need to store. Check out our space estimator or read our storage tips so you can maximise your storage space. You can also call us on 028 9266 44 44 or email us for a quote on size. Even better, come in and see us and we will show you a range of sizes to enable you to choose an appropriate sized storage space. Choosing the right size space will ensure you only pay for the storage space you need
What is a typical room size?

Storage rooms vary from 25sq ft to 500 sq ft , we can also accommodate warehouse space of up to 1,000 sq ft if required.

What if I need to change my storage space to a smaller or larger space?

You may transfer to another storage space at any time subject to availability.

What height are your storage units?

Each storage unit is approx eight feet in height

Are the storage units heated?

The storage rooms are not heated and the temperature within the store remains fairly constant, the facility is well insulated, ventilated , clean and dry.

Is there a risk for condensation, humidity or frost?
No. When you store your things at The Self Storage Centre you do not have to worry about humidity/condensation or frost in your storage unit. All our stores have insulated walls and excellent ventilation to ensure that your storage always has a normal humidity level.

Our storage rooms are of the highest quality in the market, All our rooms are clean and welcoming. We continuously check and improve our facilities to maintain the highest standards.

With us, your belongings always have a normal temperature level inside a modern, insulated and well-ventilated building.

The condition your items arrive in is the condition they will leave, We are proud to say we have not had a single issue with condensation in 7 years, with over 3000 storage units let

Car Parking

Can I rent a car parking space?
You can rent parking spaces at our storage centre in Mallusk. it is possible to rent both indoors and outdoors parking spaces. Contact us to hear more about which options are available at different locations.


Why do I need insurance?
Just like living in an apartment where usually the building insurance is covered by a third party, you still need to have contents insurance. Self storage works the same way. Our insurance covers our building; your insurance is to cover your possessions.
How does insurance work?
If an accident happens please contact our site staff immediately. They will help you through the insurance process, so you get your compensation as fast as possible.
How much is insurance?
This depends on the full new replacement value of your goods if you had to buy them again today. As a guide, our average customer tends to take £5,000 to £7,000 of insurance cover at a cost of £4.00 – £6.00 per week. Please call your local where a member of our team can work out a personal quote for you. The cost of insurance starts from £2.00 per week for £2,000 of cover and goes up depending on the level of cover that’s right for you.

If you choose to use our insurance, this will be set up when you come into the store to sign your customer licence before you move into your storage room.

Do I have to take out your insurance, or can I use my own insurance?
No. You can take out your own insurance but it must cover goods being placed in self storage. Not all household insurances will cover you whilst your possessions are in a self storage facility, so please check the terms of your insurance and provide us with proof of your cover if not using ours, which must state that it covers goods stored in a self storage facility, and name the store you are storing at and the full postal address of the premises. It is your responsibility to keep your insurance documentation valid and up to date.

Storage for Business

Can I dispose of my packaging and cardboard waste?
Yes. we can help you to get rid of your packaging plastic and cardboard waste so you do not have to waste time or money on waste disposal elsewhere.
Can you receive my packages when I am not there?
Yes. Our staff can accept your package deliveries on weekdays from 9am to 6pm, and weekends from 10am to 3pm. In that time frame we can receive your packages and store them safely, until you can come by and take it to your storage. You will receive an SMS from us when we have received your packages.
Can I borrow a trolley or other warehouse equipment?
Yes. All our stores have moving equipment, including forklift, sack truck, trollies etc, that you can borrow free of charge.
Is there light and electricity in my storage unit?
Some of our storage units have a light inside and some have electricity. Please contact us to discuss your lighting requirements.
Can I park onsite?
Yes, private parking is free for all customers.
Can I operate my business from a storage unit?
Yes, We have many customers that actively use their storage units to operate their business.
Are there things I cannot store ?
You cannot store easily flammable substances, food or illegal possessions. For anything but these, we have plenty of units. See our terms and conditions for more detailed information.

Reserving a Storage Unit

How does the reservation of a storage unit work?
When you reserve a storage, you will get a booking confirmation on your email. In less than 24 hours we will contact you regarding the reservation. Signing the contract and payment will take place later at the store or online.
Is the reservation binding?
No, the reservation is non-obligatory and free of charge. The payment takes place only after the contract has been signed.
What documents do I need to provide to rent a storage unit?
For security reasons we need to see picture id and a utility bill

Security & Access

What sort of security do you have?
We take security very seriously at The Self Storage Centre and offer an extensive range of security features, including:
• 24 hour Digital CCTV located both inside and outside the main building, monitoring all entrances and exits
• Burglar Alarm System
• Coded electronic gate access to the building allowing access only with your own key fob
• Padlock for your individual unit for which you are the sole key holder
• A fire and smoke detection system
Who has access to my storage space?

Only you (or anyone you have authorised) can access your storage space, you will require the key to unlock the lock on your storage unit.

How often can I access my space?

Monday to Thursday 8.30 am to 6 pm , Friday 8.30 am to 5pm
Saturday 9 am to 3pm
Sunday Closed
(Extended opening times can be arranged outside these hours where possible)

Do I have to pre-book a space?
No, you can fill in your storage licence today and move in immediately. However to be guaranteed a room of a specific size on arrival, it is advisable to book your room in advance.
Can I move in today?

Yes you can. A team member will help you complete the rental agreement and you will need to show suitable proof of identity (a passport), proof of address (a recent utility bill), and a means of payment. You can then move in straight away.

What are your opening hours?

You can access your storage unit six days a week during our opening hours: Monday – Thursday 8.30am – 6pm, Friday 8.30 am to 5pm, Saturday 9am – 3pm , you can also arrange extended access 24 hours a day if required.

How Secure is self-storage ?
All our locations have extensive video-surveillance 24/7 , modern security and fire alarm systems. There is staff at all our centres on weekdays from 08.30am to 18:00pm, and weekends from 9am to 3pm. Our centres are well secured with Perimeter gates and mobile security patrols and CCTV at all exit and entry points.

Your Contract

On renting a storage unit you sign a straight forward Storage Licence agreement prior to ‘moving in’ to your space. Our staff will talk you through the contents of this simple agreement to make sure you understand the key points of what you’re committing to.
Two forms of ID are required one of which must be a photo ID (passport or driving licence) and a utility bill less than 3 months old. Payment of the first invoice must be made prior to moving in.

Can I move in today?
Yes you can. A team member will help you complete the rental agreement and you will need to show suitable proof of identity (a passport), proof of address (a recent utility bill), and a means of payment. You can then move in straight away.
What is the minimum time I can store with you?

Our minimum storage period is seven days.

Do I have to give you notice to leave?
We only require seven days notice of your intention to vacate your space. At this time a refund will be processed for any unused monies that you have paid.
Notice must be given in writing, either by fax, post or email.
Do I need insurance?

Yes, your goods MUST be insured whilst in storage. The Self Storage Centre offers a tailored insurance according to your needs.

Are there any restrictions on what I can store?

Yes the following items cannot be stored:
• Living items, such as animals and plants
• Hazardous materials, such as flammable liquids and explosives
• Items that could decompose, such as exposed foodstuffs
• Unauthorised or illegal goods, such as drugs, firearms and explosives

Packing, Moving and Transporting your belongings

Can I buy boxes and packing materials from The Self Storage Centre, and do you deliver?
Yes, we sell an extensive range of packing materials from boxes to bubble wrap. Packing materials can be bought in person from our office or you can order storage packs online and have them delivered to your door.
How do I transport my belongings?

If your own vehicle isn’t suitable for transporting your things to The Self Storage Centre, we recommend our highly popular Full Service Removals and Storage Offering.

What about trolleys and pallet trucks?

There are a number of different size trolleys and pallet trucks available free of charge for customer use. If required we have access to a forklift truck available for any palletised goods, which can be operated on your behalf by one of our trained staff.

We are conveniently located just 1 mile from Lisburn city centre at the junction of the Knockmore and Moira Road, you cannot miss our signage. From here we offer superb access to the Lisburn, Greater Belfast and surrounding areas in Down, Antrim and Armagh.

Belfast Store
We are located at 605 Antrim Road Mallusk , just 500 metres from the Sandyknowes Roundabout

Is there someone at the store I can talk to if I have a problem?
There will always be a trained member of staff to help you that are available six days a week during reception opening times. Should you require assistance outside of office hours you can simply call our landline which is redirected to our mobiles during out of office ours.
